SAKURA Tempesta, a non-profit organization (located in Wakaba-ku, Chiba City; President: Yuki Terasaki), is pleased to announce the start of the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) “FTC Support Program” to support the launch of new teams in Japan.
1. Program objectives
Increase FTC awareness
Further promote FTC in Japan, where over 80,000 junior high and high school students worldwide participate.Expand the number of teams in Japan
Lower the hurdles for new entrants and build an operational base that can be sustained for more than 2 years
2. Outline of support
Publicly solicited: Tuesday, April 1, 2025 – Friday, May 30, 2025 (JST)
Support period: Monday, June 23, 2025 – Saturday, May 30, 2026 (JST)
Subject:
At least 3 members from 1st year middle school to 3rd year high school + at least 1 mentor
New teams based in Japan to participate in the FTC Japan Pre-Competition
Willingness to continue participation for at least two years
3. Details of support
Material support (3-5 teams)
Complete set of control parts, drive base kit, lift kit, battery set, etc.
Assembly manuals and tools
Unlimited technical and operational support
Online mentoring at least twice a month
Robot design and programming know-how
Team organization, schedule and budget management
Support for convention strategy development and presentation materials
Joint workshops during summer vacation (CAD, programming, etc.)
4. Selection Process
Initial screening: Documents (basic information, motivation for application, planned activities for 2 years)
Second screening: Online interview
Announcement of results: June 20, 2025 approx.
